Space IL - Honoured to be part of
Space IL: Google XPrize announced an international competition – the first team who will land an unmanned spacecraft on the moon, move it 500 meters and send live photos to earth, will get 20 Million $.
About 30 groups started the race. Space IL, the Israeli group came to us with their vehicle, which was clever but not exciting enough visually.
It was a multiple challenge: on one hand, we wanted to express the elegant, ingenious and complex work of the engineers, without adding anything to the vehicle. We could only play with the existing parts. On the other hand our mission was to excite people, especially kids, and make them fall in love with the biggest human adventure – science.
The team has a launching contract with Elon Musk – the missile is due to leave earth at the end of 2017. They are the only ones with such a contract, out of the five teams left in the race.
