Designing a Hub for Connection and Inclusion
The new Claudette Blot Multicultural Center Lounge was designed to be a welcoming and dynamic environment that sparks joy, deepens cultural understanding, and fosters connections among students. With its expanded layout, modern finishes, and functional features, the lounge now serves as a space for events, study sessions, and cultural activities.

? A redesigned glass storefront that opens the space visually and invites students in.
? Custom ceiling tiles and a unique lighting experience to create a warm and engaging atmosphere.
? A mini kitchen area to support events and casual gatherings.
? A custom electric fireplace, adding a cozy and inviting element to the space.
Rising to the Challenge of a Tight Timeline
With the lounge closing on December 19, 2022, and the ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for January 23, 2023, Walker faced an ambitious timeline. Working around the clock during the holiday break, the team relied on:
