Sowing doubt

Sowing doubt

Good morning and welcome to US Election Countdown. I'm Steff Chávez, the FT's Washington reporter. We’re three weeks out from election day and there’s a lot to discuss:

  • The Trump allies sowing election doubts
  • Insight from a top Trump economic adviser
  • A surge in election betting

Despite the resonance that Donald Trump’s attempt to subvert the 2020 election had with his supporters, it appeared chaotically thrown together. This time around, he and his allies have laid the foundation to challenge the election results with four years’ worth of conspiracy theories. [Free to read]

Rightwing organisations have pumped millions of dollars into contesting election procedures, recruiting poll watchers and challenging the eligibility of thousands of voters. In doing so, they claim to be protecting the election’s integrity.

These groups have disputed the registrations of more than 100,000 people in states including the battlegrounds of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina and Wisconsin since November 2020, according to an FT analysis of findings from more than 200 public records requests. . . . Still tipping Teflon Don FTW!!! It's cute seeing the left try and get Trump. No matter what disinformation, lawfare, indictments, ballot removal and other authoritarian undemocratic tactics the Democrats throw at him Teflon Don will get back up to fight against the deep-state, mainsteam media and elitists. All the more reasons to vote Trump this November and prove the critics wrong once more. May his retribution be success!!! #Trump2024 #MAGA

if you are not a citizen, you should not have the right to vote. the right and not the left are the one trying to subvert democracy by trying to restrict voters by reducing the number of polling stations. it is interesting that the right did not choose to question the validity of the 2020 election. you are only vexed when you are defeated.

Why is the left wing so afraid of election integrity? Why is the DOJ suing Virginia for removing illegal aliens from voting?
