Southwest 737 makes emergency landing after engine cover loss

??A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-800 bound for Houston was forced to return to Denver International Airport on April 7th, 2024, after losing an engine cover during takeoff. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident.

??According to reports, the engine cowling, a removable cover, detached and struck the wing flap of the aircraft. Thankfully, the flight crew were able to safely return the plane to Denver. Passengers were transferred to another aircraft and arrived in Houston approximately three hours behind schedule.

??The FAA is currently looking into the cause of the engine cover detachment. This incident comes on the heels of another involving a Southwest 737-800 that reportedly experienced an engine fire during takeoff from Lubbock, Texas, on the same day. Both aircraft were the older 737-800 model, not the newer 737 Max.
