SOUTHLAND Drivers' Christmas Decorations Featured on Global News

Some very creative SOUTHLAND bus drivers are making the city's cold, dark mornings a little brighter for a lot of kids. Today, Global News Calgary ran a story about three drivers who have decked out their buses in a very festive fashion!

With holiday decorations and strings of colourful lights adorning their rides, Al Becker, Mike McKey and Mark Pulfur are all about starting the school day in the spirit of the season.

Al Becker spent four-and-a-half hours decorating his bus but says it was so worth the effort.

"We've got icicles, we've got ribbons and bows, we've got tinsel. The kids walk in, and they see the bus, and their eyes are like THIS BIG - and they're like -WOW!"

Mark Pulfer says he doublechecks his decor choices with his grandkids to get their seal of approval. He also says holiday tunes are the key to creating a festive atmosphere on his bus.

"We play Christmas music as we're going along. I like to have Jingle Bells playing all over in the bus - the kids absolutely love it."

Mike McKey thinks his tradition of transforming his bus into a Christmas wonderland is well worth the time and effort.

"My younger kids used to sit up and the front, so that's why I have things like the snowman, and Santa, of course - and the Peanuts gang is big."

Arjan Slagmolen, Regional Director of SOUTHLAND, was very impressed by the seasonal sensations these three drivers have created.

"I just think it's amazing the amount of effort they, put into it. The time that they take - their own time. This is definitely at the high end of Christmas spirit."
