The Southend Volunteer Awards are here!

SAVS are excited to announce the inaugural Southend Volunteer Awards, which will be held at the Roslin Beach Hotel on June 27th, 2024. This special event recognises and acknowledges the exceptional volunteers of Southend-on-Sea, whose tireless efforts and dedication significantly enrich our community. Southend-on-Sea is a diverse and vibrant city, with a unique tapestry of cultures that contribute to its character and spirit. Our volunteers are the backbone of this community, working tirelessly to foster an inclusive, supportive, and vibrant environment that transcends cultural and social barriers.

The aim of these awards is to highlight the incredible contributions of our volunteers, who work hard to meet the diverse needs of Southend-on-Sea, making it a better place for everyone. By recognising their achievements, we not only commend their individual and collective efforts but also inspire others to engage and make a difference within our dynamic community.

We are inviting organisations, service users, and colleagues to nominate deserving volunteers for the awards. You can find the categories listed below, and nominations can be submitted via a form on our website. If your nominee is shortlisted as a finalist, we will ask you to provide a one-minute video explaining why you believe they should win. Don’t worry if you’re new to this; we’re here to help you create your video!

Join us as we celebrate the impact of these amazing individuals at the first Southend Volunteer Awards, an evening of recognition in the heart of our community.

1. Health & Wellbeing Award—This award recognises volunteers who have made significant contributions to improving health and well-being in our community and ensuring residents receive the support and care they need.
2. Community Inclusion Award— This award honours a volunteer who has made a significant positive impact on fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for our diverse communities.
3. Youth Volunteer of the Year—This award is focused on celebrating the efforts and contributions of younger volunteers (typically under 21 years old) who have shown dedication and enthusiasm in their volunteer work.
4. Innovation in Volunteering Award—This award honours a volunteer who has introduced innovative ideas or solutions that have significantly enhanced the effectiveness of a project or service.
5. Lifetime Achievement Award – Awarded to a volunteer who has dedicated many years to volunteer service, demonstrating long-term commitment and perseverance.
6. Trustee of the Year: This award recognises a trustee who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, commitment, and positive effects on organisational governance and success.
7. Environmental Champion Award – For a volunteer who has led or participated in environmental initiatives, contributing to sustainability efforts in the community.
8. Inspirational Volunteer Award – Awarded to a volunteer who inspires others to volunteer and contribute to the community through their passion, energy, and optimism.
