South Island Bee Conference
Just over a year ago my wife Susani became a bee keeper. Not really aligned to what I do, although I love honey and she's making a good one! However, half a year in she recognised the club wasn't going anywhere and stepped up to become the president. Good on her, I thought. You see a gap and go for it.
In the following months she rallied around locally, nationally, and even internationally talking to people what they do for this or that, if there are alternatives to fighting mites and AFB (American Foulbrood), what are the advantages of different frame sizes and types, and so. She met a number of people and spend hours to understand the in's and out's. Next on her list was talking to businesses that supply bee keepers with materials, government organisations that control and regulate bee keeping and local schools who may want to be involved.
And now, she has organised a first Bee Conference! Well done, Susani :) Folks, if you are about on the 2 September this year, come along. It's going to bee inspiring!
