The South African Energy Disaster

So, the government has officially declared a national disaster on Energy. This is a disaster long in the making by a government that has largely lost touch with the needs of the people they purport to govern.

White elephants like Mdupi and Kusile are only part of the problem - years of energy neglect and failure to provide capacity for growing energy needs - have finally led to the collapse of the energy grid - exasperated by corruption across the Eskom enterprise - feasted on by an apathetic government!

The stark reality is that our economy cannot sustain the load shedding currently taking place - and a country already leading the planet in joblessness - is set to lose more jobs as the crisis unfolds! The system - and the politicians - have failed the SA population - unless there is a break with politics leading energy - the situation will only get worse! Especially as the national state of disaster will give more power to the very people that caused this crisis - and the specter of a repeat of the covid corruption looms!
