??After you have read through this newsletter (or not ??), I invite you to share April Fool's Day jokes that are false news related to sourcing and recruiting as comments. ChatGPT false news generation is allowed. Let's see what we all can come up with!
??This rather detailed post from Matchr, LinkedIn Recruiter Secrets for Effective Sourcing, and a ~20-minute recording I gave to Matchr for their audience, which they have posted on YouTube, intends to help you adjust your sourcing methods. You will not find these tips in LinkedIn documentation or hear from LinkedIn Support.
This content and video also serve as a good preview of our sourcing presentation style, in case you want to dig deeper or are interested in other Talent Sourcing topics covered here:
?? Sourcers and Recruiters who have used LinkedIn Google X-Ray: Here is a discussion about LinkedIn vs. Google and other tools. I shared an interesting quote from LinkedIn Engineering, part of our exchange on the disappearance of public profiles. The post has received many insightful comments. Check it out if you haven't.
I understand the public profiles will not be restored; Sourcers will work around that. But how can we improve communication with LinkedIn so that their Engineering better understands the Recruiter's needs for sourcing talent functionality in the future?
?? Do you search by Skills in LinkedIn Recruiter? Our tests show that it is about as efficient as keyword searching, i.e., it is too wide. Anyone may be "assigned" a skill they do not have because the barrier is too low. The user is not notified of those "skills" assigned to them - they are not visible - yet they would be found by that Skill entered in LinkedIn Recruiter. Check out my blog post, LinkedIn Assumes Skills, And It Is a Problem. The post also contains a solution for a more targeted search.

We have a growing number of repeat users from all over the world. (At this point, there is no registration or login, so we only know the general stats). If you source Software Developers, this post - and the tool - are for you.
