The Source
Some people trust in power, wealth, prestige and fame
Not knowing these are illusions, mere tools of deception
That will all too quickly turn to dross
So never put your trust in temporal things
It’s easy to be deceived
When things are going well
It’s in our moments of doubt, failure and loss
That we contemplate the meaning of virtue over dross
Success is good, achieving one’s dream is marvelous
But staying true to yourself and living by your morals is not sanctimonious
Mother always said at the end of the day
Being able to look yourself in the eye is more important
What our parents told us were wise words indeed
Stay connected to the source, stay the course
Take the time to understand, believe
My child, you’ve been taught well
So don’t compromise your values
Do what you know is right
Do what you know is best
Remember in the end, yes, in the end.
