Soup powder and tanks, How the Israeli army shapes society. And .. 2 tips at the end.

On one of the lectures about the Israeli culture, I show that the Israeli advertiser publishes various products, such as chocolate milk, cell phone, and soup powder. By characters and experiences related to the period of time that the Israeli served in the military service. This is an excellent example of the tremendous impact that this period of time has on the life and self-definition of the Israeli citizen.

When we talk about the army, the first picture that comes to our mind is tanks and planes. However, the most powerful and significant weapon of the Israeli army is its role in shaping the Israeli society.

The Israeli Citizen Immediately upon completion of compulsory high school studies entered the gates of the military service, which is mandatory for both women (two years) and men (three years). During this military service, every soldier experiences a process of socialization that will affect him throughout his life as a citizen.

Military service in Israel is in fact, a social tool designed in the service of the state that creates close social cohesion by:

1. Creating a common experience, culture, and a language among the whole population.

2. Holding unique and special projects to promote vulnerable youth. Although the fact that social challenges are not a part of any army roles.

3. An egalitarian factor unifies the various parts of the Israeli population. They all wear the same uniforms and go through the same track regardless of the social status they came from.

4. Creating a mobility tool in the Israeli society, provides an equal opportunity for everyone on the basis of valid tests, even if the soldier comes from a poor neighborhood, he has an equal chance. In addition, the army is a long-term employment place where those who continue serving are given more than fair conditions if they decide to develop a military career.

These symbiotic relations between the citizens-the army-the state are significant for building the fabric and social cohesion in Israel.

In conclusion, the military organization in Israel is much more than a fighting force, It is a tool that makes a comprehensive social service to the State of Israel. In my opinion, Its contribution to the State in this context over the years is even more important than to the strength of the IDF on the battlefield.

Tips :

It is important to understand that this initial training is a tool for employee design and a mean of shaping the organizational culture in the entire organization. Therefore, emphasis should also be placed on such content and integrating them into the training program.

If you are an HR who is interviewing An Israeli. Do not forget to ask him about his military service, in his answers you will find a fortune.
