Aboriginal people leading the growth of a sustainable land and sea economy.
On February 2nd, the Mungullah Community celebrated its first milestone, as part of the Mungullah Public Spaces Renovation Project, funded by Lottery West and ABC Foundation with the completion of the Soup Kitchen.
Karen Stead, Business Partnerships Manager of ABC Foundation, on behalf of the Mungullah Community Aboriginal Corporation, officially received the keys from our locally dedicated Building Contractors Northern Aspect Construction (pictured).
CEO of ABC Foundation, Helen Slater said "The kitchen looks amazing, and we are excited to celebrate this milestone with Mungullah. This project has been years of planning and discussions, understanding how the kitchen was used previously to support the community, providing local food and stores. Our aim is to support the community moving forward with funded projects like the Food for the Mob Program”.
The Mungullah Committee have exciting plans to deliver food and health related programs that will further benefit the entire community.
The Soup Kitchen is one of 5 Public Spaces to be renovated in Mungullah, complementing the ongoing SHERP housing project.
These projects require significant collaboration, and aligning government, community and partner support is key to the overall success. We extend a big thank you on behalf of Mungullah and ABC Foundation to Lotteries West and the Department of Communities for making this Public Spaces Renovation possible.
