Soundtrack to a Road Trip

Soundtrack to a Road Trip

The music blared over the wind. Road trips were best with a soundtrack and mine was filled with pulse driving, beat driven music.

I was taking the highway to the Danger Zone. This was back in the Glory Days. No streaming service, it was a mix tape made for the occasion.

I felt I might as well Jump into my car. Hit The Road Jack. The sun bringing warmth and my car's cassette deck bringing me my music.

I was Walking On Sunshine and yes it felt good. The final destination was never as much fun as the drive. Sometimes my Little Sister would be with me. "That's All Right Mama" I will take her. However little sis knew that I was the DJ for the trip.

I'd Beat It out of Toronto and head anywhere I could. The longer the trip the better as more songs would be played and sang to. It was a Long and Winding Road that laid before me. You May Be Right that the music didn't always jive with the destination.

Sometimes a Careless Whisper was heard but mostly it was singing. It made me want to drive All Night Long.

I'd tell my friends to Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go! I'd call Shotgun. It didn't matter if I was in the driver seat. The feel of the wind, the sound of music and the rush of driving to a new place was Always On My Mind.

Music never failed to bring the car to life. It also would fill any awkward silences with a chorus of MMMBop.

I'm wondering Who Put the Bomp in the Do-Wop? A mystery that might never be solved on this Magical Mystery Tour.

So baby you Can Drive My Car. Pour Some Sugar on Me.

Welcome to the Jungle, we are riding on the Highway to Hell.

Cause tramps like us, baby we were Born to Run!
