The Soundtrack [Issue #14]

The Soundtrack [Issue #14]

Greetings readers, hope February has been good to you all. It's certainly been one of personal and professional enlightenment for us!

Since the last newsletter (of encouragement for all things learning!) we've started our short video series on YouTube again, check out our channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@iempow3r/videos

So here goes our second newsletter of the new year; although feels like we're very much in the midst of it and the newness was but a glimpse...

Our Upcoming Event

"For next to being a great poet is the power of understanding one."

– Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Last year, to celebrate International Women's Day, we held our first spoken word and poetry evening, opening our virtual doors to authors, poets and the writing community.

We're back on Sunday 5th March at 6pm (UK) and have an incredible set of performers ready to share their art with our audience.

If you'd like to attend, it's virtual, you can RSVP for free here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/spoken-word-poetry-international-womens-day-tickets-534827693027

We look forward to welcoming you!

Some of the benefits of creative writing include:

  • Building Confidence
  • Artistic Self-Expression
  • Thought Clarification
  • Better Understanding of the Mechanics of Reading and Writing
  • Empathy and Communication Skills

Creative writing was our very first initiative when starting iEMPOW3R, and over time became a core part of what we do. Writers have always been inspirational to me, those incredible people who have the innate ability to articulate beauty, emotion, thought and art so eloquently through words.

Words have the power to heal and the empowering poems shared by women last year demonstrated this. It brings me great honour to be able to provide a platform, giving space and opportunity to more women to share their art.

Who are some of your favourite poets and writers?

- @iEMPOW3R

The Art, of Healing

With so many global tragedies occurring, we're in a constant state of recovery and healing.

The recent earthquake impacting Turkey and Syria was devastating and heart-breaking, and our thoughts are with the people of the region as they build and recover. We are all with you. We're thinking of you. We're here to support you.

The global relief efforts have been incredible to witness; kudos to the 'Goodable' platform for their coverage of all the nations, organisations and individuals who rallied together to support. It's one of those platforms that finally got it right. The healthy(ier) dose of news.

If you've not downloaded the app, there's no time like the present: https://goodable.co/

“A daily dose of daydreaming heals the heart, soothes the soul,
and strengthens the imagination."

― Richelle E. Goodrich

I've always been interested in the relationship between art and wellbeing.

The inception behind our project nasoathome.co (currently in pause mode) experimented with this thought. How can we cultivate a space of health and wellbeing through creativity; candle, pottery making, travel, art and culture.

As mentioned previously, one of the reasons we hold space for spoken word and poetry is to provide a healthy outlet for women to express themselves, whilst empowering others.

Random: If you were to pick one soundtrack to describe your life, what would you choose?

That's All Folks

February was a month packed with incredible events with visionaries, community builders and creative pioneers, new knowledge attained, skills reset and ideas affirmed.

Remind yourself of your goals, keep working towards them. Head down, focus and remember to enjoy the process!

Celebrate your progress every day.

Having a good day is a win.

Keeping your focus and getting stuff done, a win.

Delivering something you’ve been working on, a W.

Ignoring the BS (and there's plenty!), a major dub!

Keep winning wonderful people, until March.
