SOUNDS LIKE BIZ~Putting Your Face on Your Business

Hey, Everybody! I’m Nikki Jacobs--The Sound You Like To Be Around--here for SOUNDS LIKE BIZ. That’s right. In the next few weeks, I’m going to be talking about my relationship as an actor and voice actor to business. I have been a professional actor for the past 25 years and during that time, I started doing voice acting as well. I thought I was covering all the bases simply by networking, sending out professional emails, updating my demos and headshots, and getting agents. It’s not enough. What I needed to be doing--that I wasn’t doing--was putting a face on my business. I wasn't letting people know about the human being behind the acting and the voice acting. It meant I had to really think about who I am and what I bring to the work. I also had to think about who I am and what I bring to the world—how I relate to people. Once you do that, it’s going to make life so much easier for you in terms of relating to clients and navigating your way through the biz. So don’t be afraid to put a face on it--your face.
