We are delighted to share a significant medical achievement at SMRC’s V. M. Salgaocar Hospital in Goa. Our dedicated medical team, led by Dr. Parag Sawant, successfully performed cochlear implant surgery on a 4-year-old girl, restoring her hearing and opening new avenues for her speech and learning development.

The young patient, diagnosed with bilateral profound sensorineural hearing loss, had struggled with hearing since birth. After a thorough diagnosis and an unsuccessful trial with hearing aids, our experts recommended a cochlear implant as the most effective solution. Consequently, SMRC’s V. M. The two-hour surgery was meticulously performed on the patient's right ear, resulting in no complications. Post-operative X-rays, intraoperative Neural Response Telemetry (NRT) measurements, and C-arm imaging confirmed the success of the implant. This intervention has restored the child's ability to hear and paved the way for her speech development.
