[Soul Sunday] Today Choose Joy

Hey?Dreamer Happy Soul Sunday!!

This joy I have the world did not give and the world can not take it away.?

This is one of my personal mantras... and it's gotten me through some tough times. The loss of my first husband in 2007, the loss of my last grandparent, my grandmother, in 2015 and twice being laid off in two years. All tough, tough times. But I still had joy.

“then you shall rejoice in all the good things the Lord your God has given to you and your household” (Deuteronomy 26:11).

?

This verse is a command from God to rejoice, but it also a recognition of the cause and effect relationship between us, God, and joy. When we take time to reflect on what God has done for us and offer him our very best—in time, effort, skills, gifts—the inevitable response of our souls is joy. Yes, when all these tough times hit me, I did not have joy immediately... but over time, because I knew God was there, I found my way back to joy.

You Can?Choose Joy In The Midst Of The Storm

Happiness can come and go, but you choose joy.?No matter the circumstances, you can always choose joy. For example, when my first husband,William, was diagnosed with cancer, his oncologist said most people with this diagnosis either choose to die or to live. The same set of circumstances give us a choice to make, but what you decide is totally up to you. No, we can not always choose the circumstances we find ourselves in, but you can still choose joy. Me, I am rooting for joy!

?Never, Never, Never Loose Your Joy

Biblical joy comes from the Lord. It is?a perpetual gladness of the heart that comes from knowing, experiencing, and trusting Jesus. Martin Lloyd-Jones said, “Joy, in other words, is the response and the reaction of the soul to the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Put your hand in God's hand every single time and commit to finding, searching for and claiming your Joy.?

Final thoughts.....

Joy is trusting when you want to doubt.

Joy is receiving what you want to reject.

Joy is celebrating when you want to fear.

Let us pray:?Lord, make me an instrument of your joy. Give us the joy only You can grant, O God.Where there is doubt, replace it with faith. Where there is despair, give us hope. Where there is darkness, cast light. Where there is sadness, bring joy. Amen.
