[Soul Sunday] STOP MAKING...EXCUSES!!
Hey Dreamer?Happy Soul Sunday!!?
This past week I attended a 2-day business intensive session for a high level Mastermind I am in.?I can break down what a mastermind is later. I asked a question: what are the most important things we can do to achieve our goals.?The first three things were, show up are related, but the last one, Stop Making EXCUSES, hit really close to home and is fitting fora Soul Sunday Moment today.
Mosese is known to have made five excuses to God’s call on his life for fulfilling his purpose.?Who is Moses??Many of us know him from the movie, "The Ten Commandments."?But many more of us who are Christians, know him as being saved from the Nile river by Pharaoh's daughter, privileged grandson, murderer, shepard and the original freedom fighter from Israel.?Let's start where it started: God's call to Moses.?
One day God spoke to Moses from a burning bush. He was instructed to go back to Egypt and tell Pharaoh to let God's people go. Moses then gave his five excuses to God.
The first one is found in Exodus 3:11, "I don't have the ability." However, Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Moses had the ability of God inside him and so do you.
The next excuse was, "I don't know what to say." Yet, in the book of Acts 7:22 “And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was mighty in his words and deeds.” What experience, degrees, certifications, and knowledge do you already have? Trust me, you are already wise and knowledgeable. Not sure, just make a list.…. Hey dreamer, there are 25 occurrences in the Bible where God says, “I will be with you”; the first is found in Genesis 26:3. Go knowing you have whatever it takes.
?The third excuse was "I don't have any authority or a position."?But in 2 Cor 12:9, “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness…”?For those of us who believe we need to trust Him that even on our worst days we are still powerful. Go Trust Him now!
Number four was "I am not a good speaker".?How many times do we say this in our heads and does it prevent us from sharing and serving and utilizing our God-given talents and gifts??In Isaiah 4:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Yes, Go do it scared, you are not alone. You Got This and God has got you!
Number five is found in Exodus 4:13, "Oh my Lord, please send someone else."God has a purpose for us that reaches beyond what we can imagine, think or even ask. Even in our failures, mistakes and missteps, His purpose will be fulfilled.?Psalm 138:8a, “The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me;...” Keep this deep in your heart and use it as an affirmation when you have doubts.
I learned this poem while pledging Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., back in 1990.??

?Pearl Pause: When were you first called (asked or instructed) to do something (start a business, transition careers, ask for more money, increase your prices, ask for help) What if you had done it when first asked or called? What will happen next time you're called??
