[Soul Sunday] HOLY HOLY ENDURANCE

Happy Soul Sunday

“Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.” (Heb 10:36)

Holy is that which is regarded as scary, or able to convert a sense of the divine, but the Holy Spirit; He is the third person of the trinity; and constitutes the eternal Godhead. He is scared, spiritual and pure, sinless, deserving deep respect and awe.?

Endurance: endurance is the ability to last; to stand pain. To persist, remain, exist, be able to stay, carry on, live on, go on, hold on, hang on, keep on, linger, outline, hold out, never say die, stick to it, ride out, it is fortitude, but mostly, it is long suffering, which is a fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Often when I think of endurance, I think of how we are to bear the pain and fatigue we face, to endure means to patiently wait on God and hold onto Him. In other words, holding on to God’s unchanging hand, and holding on to Him in the midst of our present and past circumstances, and those yet to come. Endurance is not knowing what lies at the end of the stair case but trusting God that God has already worked it all out in our favor. Endurance is knowing that God will and can do anything but fail. In Heb 12:7, we find these words… What you endure disciplines you: God is treating you as daughters.?Is there a daughter whom her father does not discipline?

Endurance is about fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set before Him, He endured the Cross overcoming its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. If you don’t endure… you get nothing if you do nothing.

In other words, perseverance is playing offense, while endurance is building on the defense. To preserver is to move against the odds, while endurance is to stand firm despite the odds coming at us. But we must remember that neither one is better than the other because we are called to simply obey the Holy Spirit’s leading in every situation. The challenge is, is there anyone you know who is facing a difficult situation right now? Encourage her and pray for that person to be sensitive, to be open to hearing the Holy Spirit’s leading, especially during this time leading up to the passion of Christ, the most Holy time as a Christian. May you lean into, may you succumb to, may you be ever led by the leading of the Holy Spirit.
