[SOUL SUNDAY] FINISH WELL
Happy Soul Sunday!!
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith." Hebrews 12:1-2?
Finishing what you start is not getting easier. In this marathon of life, it’s getting harder. Yesterday I participated in an all-day event on Artificial intelligence. Now I know AI can and will make life easier, but it is another thing to learn and do.? But let me tell you, it’s worth it. Finishing well is not just about the start or the sprint in the middle—it's about crossing the finish line with purpose and strength. Using all the tools available to you is how those who seemingly win all the time actually win.? For us as Christians and believers, it’s also leaning on Jesus. Picture this: a race where every glance to the side, every distraction, can cost you more than just a few seconds; it can cost you your focus, your drive. Today is not about AI but, as the author of Hebrews, shares this timeless advice with us, urging us to run our spiritual race with eyes firmly on Jesus, our ultimate goal and guide.
Focusing on Jesus means remembering His love, His sacrifice, and His ongoing presence in our lives. It's easy to get sidetracked by life's challenges or to find ourselves seeking approval and worth from worldly achievements. But, in doing so, we risk losing sight of what truly matters—living a life in alignment with God’s mission and basking in His unconditional love.
Jesus, as our leader and the one who makes our faith possible, endured the ultimate trial with joy for the sake of our salvation. His focus was unwavering, His gaze locked on the ultimate prize—reconciliation with God and the salvation of His people.
So, if fatigue sets in or if the road seems too long, remember Jesus. He ran His race with us in mind, enduring until the end so that we could know freedom and life in abundance. Let His example inspire you to keep going, to push through the pain, and to run your race with your eyes fixed on Him, the source and perfecter of our faith.
Let Us Pray
Lord Jesus, help me to focus on You. In moments of weariness or distraction, remind me of Your love and strength. Grant me the endurance to run my race with perseverance, always keeping my eyes on You, the reason for my faith and the source of my salvation. Amen.
Action Steps:
Mindfulness/Meditation
Begin with a few deep breaths, in through the nose and out through the mouth. Visualize yourself in a race, feeling the weight of distractions falling away as you fix your gaze on Jesus ahead. With each breath, feel His peace and strength fill you, empowering you to run with focus and joy.

Final Word
In life's race, whether we win or lose by worldly standards, we ultimately win when we keep our eyes on Jesus.? You see, when we focus on Jesus, we know that even a loss is a win, because we count it all Joy. By focusing on Him, we gain the strength to finish well, learning and growing with every step. Let's run our race with endurance, inspired by the one who finished His race for us, knowing that in Jesus, we have everything we need to cross the finish line with faith, with joy and with peace. So, this week run your race.
