Soul Software

Someone way more famous than me claimed a few years ago that software is eating the world. It couldn't be more true.
I believe in a few years from now there will be no more distinct industry sectors. There will be just 1 broad sector - the Technology sector with specialized domain consultants. Sounds far fetched? Not really when you think about it.
Auto sector - Its all about AI and software
Banking and Insurance - Its all about APIs, blockchain and digital transactions
Healthcare - Its all about AI (hi Watson!) and bioinformatics
Media and Entertainment - Hello Google & Netflix!
And then there's Uber, Airbnb, Khan academy and so on and so forth but but you get my drift. Each of the firms listed above is the market leader in their respective industry sector and relying on software to drive innovation.
We are now truly in the digital age where its the software that really matters and sets one apart. Hardware is a necessary evil - an interface required to deliver your software, a commodity in most cases.
Seems uncannily similar to the ancient wisdom that the body is temporary and will be destroyed but the soul is eternal.
I wonder, with all the technical advances, can we one day create the software for our souls (whatever that means) as well?
As I write this, there are in-flight projects that are trying to "digitize" the entire neural circuitry of the human brain so that one day in not so distant future we could have our entire "consciousness" projected by lasers onto the cosmos. So while our bodies may be long gone our digital avatars will live on forever.
But will that be the same as creating a living soul? Will mankind be finally be able to play God? I don't think so.
We cannot recreate a painting which we are a part of.
