SORTING YOUR CLOTHES

Most people separate their dark and white clothing into two piles. Sorting your garments by like fabrics and degree of soiled them is very worthwhile if you really want to preserve them looking their best. There are several ways in which you can sort your clothes.

SORTING BY COLOUR

Whites and colours should be kept apart, as should light and dark colours. This is crucial if you wish to select various detergents.

SORTING BY DIRTINESS

Sort out greasy or severely soiled items from lightly soiled ones. Some of this dirt and grease can be picked up by lightly dirty clothing, turning bright colours drab and turning whites grey or yellow.

SORTING BY FABRICS

Sort apart garments with delicate trims or unfinished seams to prevent fraying from clothing that is loosely knit or woven. Use a shorter cycle with softer agitation to wash those.

GETTING READY TO WASH

To achieve the cleanest clothes, just a little careful preparation before putting your garments in the washer is required. Avoid the urge to just throw everything in and close the door.

• EMPTY POCKETS:

Tissues should be particularly watched out for as they can also get wedged up sleeves or caught in pockets. Money in the form of currency notes and coins can also block passages for water to empty out.

• CLOSE ZIPS AND VELCRO:

By doing so, snags are avoided, and Velcro is prevented from becoming matted with cotton and thread and losing its effectiveness.

• BAG TIGHTS:

To prevent snagging and tearing, place tights, stockings, and anything with lengthy ties, like lingerie tops, in a mesh bag.
