Yes, we still need to have paper around us - as digital as we try to get, there are times when only a paper will do.
But, paper is all fair and well so long as you can ensure it's in an organised manner. Otherwise, how will you find it again?
Here is how to sort papers effectively:
INCOMING
Have a dedicated tray or file where you store incoming papers. i.e. you deal with the paper, then you pop it in this space for future onward transitioning
WHAT FOR
Decide what needs to happen to each paper
eg.
- to be filed
- to be scanned in
- to be recycled
- to be processed further
File it in that order - concertina files or label files are great for this
DEEPER
Now, within those categories, split the papers even further into what they are.
eg.
Cell phone bill
Rental agreement
Receipt
Certificate
SORT SORT SORT
Once you have papers all neatly compartmentalised, you need to actually do what needs to be done to them. File, scan, throw away, etc.
