In a historic announcement, OpenAI has launched Sora, a groundbreaking tool that lets users create hyper-realistic videos with just a text prompt. From simple ideas to vivid, dynamic visuals, Sora takes generative AI to a new level—bringing us closer to a world where the line between real and artificial is almost invisible.
Users can generate videos up to 1080p resolution, up to 20 sec long, and in widescreen, vertical or square aspect ratios. You can bring your own assets to extend, remix, and blend, or generate entirely new content from text.
What’s the buzz?
First the good news: Sora is included as part of your Plus account at no additional cost. You can generate up to 50 videos at 480p resolution or fewer videos at 720p each month.
But Sora isn’t just about generating videos—it understands how things exist in the physical world. This capability makes it a foundational tool for realistic simulations and storytelling.

Key features you can’t ignore
Video production made simple
Sora supports 480p, 720p, and 1080p outputs, with rendering times that vary by resolution. Higher quality takes longer (e.g., a 10-second 1080p video takes a few minutes), while 480p is lightning fast.
Reality check
Currently, Sora is live at sora.com, but it’s already facing massive traffic, temporarily limiting access.
OpenAI sums it up best:
"Sora serves as a foundational capability for models that can understand and simulate the real world, a milestone on the path to AGI."
This announcement signals a monumental leap forward—but it also underscores the importance of businesses preparing to leverage generative AI. The tools are here. Are you ready to use them?
