Soon, we will all be granted super-vision
Soon, we will all be granted super-vision. That's the sense I got after visiting AWEXR 2019 in TEL AVIV on November 11th.
VR/AR or XR technology has been around for a while now, but soon experts predict that we will be using it on a day today. And that's the same feeling I got after listening to a whole day of lectures and getting to know brave startups in the sector. Why in 3 years? Some say that by 2022, in 3 years' time, processor power and price will align to create a product that's light, powerful and accessible. I feel that it's going to be more around 5 to 10 years for a global adaptation. Whichever the case, AR/VR or XR is coming in strong and will affect our everyday life to a point when we won't be used to seeing through our eyes, but through super-vision granted to us by the screens that will cover our eyes, the technology behind the eye-tracking and the software programmers that will enable us to have a Tony Stark view of the world through the cameras connected to the screens.

I believe that the pressure to be connected will make you will wear this lens device or glasses in order to see the world through them, enabling it to project data into the day to day world. This is something that you can already accomplish trough your mobile phone camera, but now, due to accessibility, you will be able to have it as a wearable accessory that will give you immediate intelligence on the objects you are looking at.
Now, before this conference, I thought that AR/VR or XR would work in some way or another. I actually came to AWEXR in order to build an opinion on what will be the technology that will succeed. Is it glasses, is it lenses? Is it VR or AR? Now, I understand that XR will work in every way, affecting every industry that we know, work with interact with. It will affect screens, training, Studying, driving, sports, and day to day activities where information will be displayed on top of what we see in order to fully immerse ourselves in a connected world. Programmers and designers will lead the way as schools and businesses approach them in order to 3d scan environments and design data layers around them so that they can present it to the students or the world.
XR will work in every way, affecting every industry that we know, work with interact with.
VR tech will also thrive but in a different way. VR is completely in an immersive world and in the areas of health, travel, and gaming it's fully flourishing. Playing games in virtual environments while connected to the VR crowd with friends will be a new standard. Virtual offices where you can fully interact with pears while sitting in your office are something I predict will happen sooner than we think.
With regards to investment, gaming technologies in the Appstore seems to take off by 2022, Smart glasses will surpass mobile and other devices (once apple launches its smart glasses. Mobile AR and Smart glasses will have almost the same revenue for 2023. Hardware will be a huge player in revenue sales and enterprise software will be the key technological software to grow.
All the technology is already here. It is my belief we are just waiting for the solutions to be created and distributed around the world in order to start implementing it in our day to day life. Startups that have the right combination of B2B clients, solving pains, lowering operations costs and offer access to user experiences that generate data to the current corporations will thrive.
If you haven's started thinking about XR in your industry, this is the time to build relationships and support the startups that will shape your future in order for you to get the biggest benefit of the upcoming disruption of the super-vision era.

Opinion about AWEXR
The companies that were selected to pitch where well-appointed. I enjoyed the content although the panel could have been better guided in my opinion. Also, the location of the event, the InterContinental is far from restaurants and other amenities. Food should have been more available.
Companies I found Interesting:
SIXENSE | Training Tech
In healthcare, training, and entertainment, they deliver products that help interact between the user and the XR system building hardware and software that mimics environments. For example, it gives you a device to weld with a helmet and you use it to learn how to weld in 8 hours, something that takes weeks and usually costs materials and labor hours of the trainer and trainee. It also tracks your movements and gives you precise reports in order for you to improve your performance time after time until you become an expert and are ready to take over the real task. I actually tried this and it felt very real, even after the experience.
LLS | Training Tech
Lls helps companies train their employees using VR headsets. It designs the models and lets users explore them in real-time, handle them and train on their parts, uses and fixes. It works extremely well for various types of systems that require costly training.
SCAN THE CITY | Construction Tech
Scan the city uses high definition scanning to encompass environments. They make experiences and tell stories with reality capture and point cloud.
They are a Creative studio for immersive digital content. Based in Tel Aviv, we explore the world using reality capture technology. We combine different sensors to capture high detailed data. operating in many fields such as archeology, architecture, construction, engineering, new media and more. They collaborate with local startups, artists, universities, and companies to create interactive 3D models and digital art.
RESONAI | PropTech
Resonai is all about visual perception – understanding the digital and physical world in 3D, and applying that to AR, visual search.
Powered by AI, Vera (its flagship product) uses understands a building’s 3D structure as the foundation for AR applications for the whole building lifecycle. Things like ticketing, indoor navigation, and other multipurpose applications. Resonai can locate you on a building using the understanding of the environment and not using GPS or beacons.
It's a platform that scales – applications can adapt automatically to the structure and context of any property
INCEPTIONXR - BOOKFUL | EdTech
Transforms books into an augmented reality experience using your phone as a portal. It's mainly for children's books but it gets kids excited about reading plus it's interactive.
XTEND - Autonomous Flight
Xtend is using similar tech that's currently available for machine vision and autonomous car driving in order to enable autonomous flight. The case they presented was for soldiers that need to see what's behind a door. Point and click autonomous flight of a drone can help you quickly and easily and accurately control a drone.
HEXA | Re-Tech
Hexa uses your currently available images on your site and builds 3d models of the objects. It's building the model to work automatically through AI but currently, it holds a marketplace where 3d designers can help tech the AI engine.
RESTAR | Re-Tech
Using your mobile phone camera and research developed in academic centers, RESTAR 3d scans merchandise and makes it available for 3d environments. In my opinion, this is the link between objects in our world and placing them in an XR environment.
RESIGHT | PropTech
Using the camera on your phone you can scan your room, office space or building and create a virtual map of the property so that later on be augmented with information. This is useful for so many applications things since it helps locate you on a map without the use of GPS. It could connect with different software in the future giving others access to building on top of it any type of tech you need.
