Sonova office built for people with hearing loss.
Welcome to Sonova Communications AG in Murten, Switzerland. It is one of the first office buildings fully equipped with Roger to help employees and visitors with hearing loss to fully participate in meetings both large and small.
Background story
"As someone with hearing loss, I always had to bring my own Roger Table Mics to meetings. This meant I had to arrive early and wait until the meeting was over to take them back" said Benjamin Heldner - Senior Product Manager at Sonova Communications AG.
This experience made him initiate a pilot project where two meeting rooms were equipped with Roger. After positive feedback from Murten employees and visitors, Sonova extended this set up to all larger meeting rooms for full inclusion of people with hearing loss.
The Setup: Meeting room
For safety reasons, the Table Mics were fixed to the tables, while an electrician ensured that all cables were neatly connected and secured.
Depending on the room size, two or four Roger Table Mic II were mounted, plus an additional microphone?connected to the main audio system. This setup allows not only in person meetings, but also enables optimal hybrid meetings as the voices from online participants are sent from the PC directly to the hearing aids or cochlear implants.
Now, all seven larger meeting rooms are fully equipped, allowing employees and visitors with hearing devices to connect to the room’s network.

The Setup: Company-wide meetings
Sonova has also implemented the entire Roger ecosystem for company-wide meetings in the atrium.
From a presenter’s point of view, the Roger Touchscreen Mic has been the favorite choice. Worn by the presenter, it connects not only to hearing devices, but also to the Roger Digimaster SoundField system, allowing people without hearing devices to also hear clearly over distance, even in these larger open areas.
These company-wide meetings are also interactive, with lots of questions coming from the participants. For this purpose, the Roger Pass-around mics are handed out, which also connect to the Roger Digimaster SoundField system, ensuring everyone can follow the discussion.
Lastly, online presenters can also participate in a meaningful way thanks to the use of the Roger Multimedia hub.
Connected via the computer, the Roger Multimedia hub sends audio from the remote presenter directly to the hearing devices and Roger Digimaster SoundField so that everyone at the town hall can enjoy the presentation. And simultaneously, online participants gain access to all sounds from the town hall – in full Roger quality!
