One of the better known stories from the Old Testament. In chapters 5 & 6 we read about the commander of the army of the Lord speaking with Joshua when he was near Jericho. Joshua was told to march around the city once with all the armed men and to do this for six days.
Have seven priests with trumpets march in front of the ark of the Lord’s covenant, and the armed guards in front of the priests. On the seventh day they marched around the city seven times with the priests blowing their trumpets. When the priests sounded a long blast on their trumpets, all the people gave a loud shout, and the wall of the city collapsed. They devoted the city to the Lord and destroyed with the sword every living thing in it, except for Rehab and all who were in her house who were spared, and taken safely out of the city. Then they burned the whole city and everything in it.
Thought for today: the Lord can do extraordinary things through ordinary people.
