The Psalms in the Old Testament section of the Holy Bible, is a collection of hymns and prayers gathered together over a long period of time, and they are of many kinds. Some reflect worshipping God, while others are prayers and hymns calling for help, protection, forgiveness, salvation and songs of thanksgiving.

Praise the Lord. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who finds great delight in His commands (Psalm 112:1). His children will be mighty in the land, the generation of the upright will be blessed (Psalm 112:2). Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures for ever (Psalm 112:3). Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man (Psalm 112:4). Good will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who conducts his affairs with justice (Psalm 112:5). Surely he will never be shaken, a righteous man will be remembered for ever (Psalm 112:6). He will have no fear of bad news, his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord (Psalm 112:7). His heart is secure, he will have no fear, in the end he will look in triumph on his foes (Psalm 112:8). He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor, his righteousness endures for ever, his dignity will be lifted high in honour (Psalm 112:9). The wicked man will see and be vexed, he will gnash his teeth and waste away, the longings of the wicked will come to nothing (Psalm 112:10).

Thought for today: great are the works of the Lord (Psalm 111:2).

Thought for the future: let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and for evermore (Psalm 113:2). Where will you spend your eternity???????
