?We read in Matthew, Mark and Luke about the calming of the storm, when Jesus and His disciples encountered a fierce storm while crossing Lake Galilee.?
When Jesus saw the crowd around Him (Matthew 8:18), He said to His disciples “Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.” So the disciples got into the boat and set out (Luke 8:22). A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke Him and said
“Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” (Mark 4:38). Jesus got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm (Mark 4:39). “Where is your faith?” Jesus asked His disciples who were in fear and amazement (Luke 8:25). The disciples were terrified, and they asked each other “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey Him” (Mark 4:41). Still in shock they sailed to the region of the Gerasenes, which is across the lake from Galilee (Luke 8:26).
Thought for today: eyes of faith see God’s work.
Thought for the future: when confronting difficulty, put your trust in God. Where will you spend your eternity?
