This song is adapted from a poem written by Denis W Sweeney, for the Centenary of Bankstown Baptist Church in Sydney, Australia (1915 – 2015).
During our lives, we will experience both good times and bad times. Often, during the good times, we forget about God, and His Son Jesus Christ. We simply enjoy life without remembering who gave us our life. But in bad times, we tend to turn to God and pray for help. But we can’t be part-time Christians, because there is no part-time heaven. We need to remember God in our life each and every day. For no matter what we have in life, or what we make of our life, there is nothing we can do by ourselves to get us into heaven with eternal life. And whatever we acquire whilst in this life, will stay here, we can’t take it with us when we leave this fallen world. Jesus said “I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). So remember, God’s help is only a prayer away, and God’s certainty will see us through life’s uncertainties if it is His will, and if you believe in His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Thought for today: Christ’s death gives us courage for today and hope for tomorrow.
Thought for the future: God tests our faith so we can trust in His faithfulness. Where will you spend your eternity??
