Paul writes to the Church at Colosse, a town in Asia Minor east of Ephesus, that the promise of heaven is our eternal hope.

Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation (Colossians 1:15). For by Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities, all things were created by Him and for Him (Colossians 1:16). He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together (Colossians 1:17). And Christ is the head of the body, the Church, He is the Beginning and the Firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything He might have the supremacy (Colossians 1:18). For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him (Colossians 1:19), and through Christ to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through the blood of Christ shed on the cross (Colossians 1:20). Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behaviour (Colossians 1:21). But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation (Colossians 1:22).

Thought for today: the Lamb who died for us, is now our Good Shepherd who leads us.

Thought for the future: a Christian’s inheritance is “for ever” guaranteed. Where will you spend your eternity?
