Hosea was a prophet who preached in the northern kingdom of Israel, after the prophet Amos and during the troubled times before the fall of Samaria in 721 BC. This song is adapted from the Book of Hosea, chapter 14.

Return, oh Israel, to the Lord your God. Your sins have been your downfall (Hosea 14:1). Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to Him: “Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips” (Hosea 14:2). We will never again say “Our gods” to what our hands have made, for in you the fatherless find compassion (Hosea 14:3). The Lord said “I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them” (Hosea 14:4). Men will dwell again in His shade, and flourish like the corn (Hosea 14:7). Who is wise to realise these things? Who is discerning to understand them? The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them (Hosea 14:9).

Thought for today: one of God’s greatest presents, is His presence in our lives. Thought for the future: you have all you need in life, when you have God in your life. Where will you spend your eternity?
