Job hunting shouldn’t be about ticking boxes. It shouldn't be about trawling job boards to try and find the one vacancy that’s going to be a reasonable match. Bold statement? Yes. But true. The traditional recruitment model

Since the dawn of the first recruitment agency, the industry has heavily focused on filling jobs. What this means is that recruiters put all of their focus on what vacancies they can get and, in turn, fill, in order to make their commission. It becomes a numbers game. The more vacancies, the more chance of filling them. Quantity is of the essence.

The trouble with this model is that the candidates are just seen as a number. Not in all cases. It’s worth saying that there are some recruitment agencies that operate using this model and also have a focus on service. But generally speaking, this model encourages recruiters to move quickly, therefore, they don’t take the time to get to know what you actually desire.

For the recruiters, they end up with candidates ghosting, taking counter-offers and pulling out of interviews because they've not taken time to get to know the candidate and build a relationship with them. They don't understand where in the recruitment process the candidate is, only that they said they were interested in the job sold to them. The candidate has ended up taking a job elsewhere; and because they don't have a relationship with the recruiter, they don't feel the need to relay this information.

For the candidate, they too get ghosted. They get put forward for roles or companies that aren’t the best fit, waste their time at interviews all to not hear back from the recruiter afterwards.

When you’ve exhausted internal conversations but nothing has changed for you, we’ll change tact to develop a brief that will allow us to map out the market and identify every business that matches your requirements.

Step 3:

We’ll continue to build on our relationship with you over the course of your career, agreeing to intermittent catch-up calls within a reasonable timeframe.
