Sonder Spotlight: Yuko Koganemaru

Today we’re shining the Sonder spotlight on our fantastic Backend Engineering Lead, Yuko Koganemaru.

Here, Yuko shares what inspired her to join the Sonder team, and how she looks after her own wellbeing, with a blend of exercise and great coffee!?

I joined Sonder during the COVID pandemic.?

During that time, I came to appreciate the profound impact wellbeing has on our lives. Sonder's vision to ‘provide global support through the right care, at the right time’ truly inspired me. I also saw joining Sonder as an opportunity to grow myself as an engineering leader by working among a fast-paced team.

As a Backend Engineering Lead, I support Sonder’s engineering team.

I assist the team in continuously improving their technical skills and deliver a quality product in an efficient manner. I’d describe the team culture at Sonder as collaborative, respectful and with a mindset of continuous improvement

Seeing the positive impact of our product is incredibly fulfilling.

There's something truly rewarding about witnessing the product and engineering teams at Sonder come together to continuously build and ship new features and products. It's a testament to the hard work and collaboration everyone puts in.?

When it comes to my own health and wellbeing, regular exercise is key.

It helps me clear my head and feel energised. I also prioritise getting enough sleep and maintaining a balanced diet. Another practice I find valuable for me is having a well-crafted cup of coffee each morning. It sets a tone of mindfulness and enjoyment for the day ahead.
