Son, Son, Son, Here "He" Comes!
Talk about a meaningful, most unexpected morning worship experience...
To understand it, you'll need to first click on this YouTube Video Link:
7:30 a.m. this morning, driving east bound into Grand Rapids from Spring Lake on Highway 96, I saw a gorgeous sun rise, beginning with a red blue sky, followed by the sun coming up from the horizon, in all its glory, a site we don't enjoy near enough in our Michigan winter months.
Marveling at this incredibly beautiful sight, my radio begins playing, "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles, along with I couldn't help but sing along, my thoughts changing the word "Sun" to "Son", and thus my worship experience began.
"Reflecting" on this more, parallels between "the rising sun" and "rising of the Son", which we will celebrate on Easter Sunday, are quite striking:
1. The Bible tells us Jesus will return, coming from the East.
2. Just as the "sun" rises and provides warmth and light for all people, not discriminating one from another, so the "Son" gave His life that "whoever" believes in Him will have eternal life.
3. Just as the "sun" brings light into darkness, so too the "Son" brings light and meaning into the hurts and brokenness of our lives and world.
4. Just as the "sun" is reflected from objects struck by its penetrating rays, so too we, who receive Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, reflect His love and glory in the world around us.
5. Fifth, not last, just as the "sun" changes those touched by its rays, giving warmth, providing nourishing vitamins, bringing a "healthy glow" to our skin and countenance, so too the "Son" changes us, transforming us closer to His image, enriching our lives with hope joy and peace.
“The Lord bless you?and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you?and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you?and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
Beginning with a familiar YouTube tune, here's a fitting one to end on.
