The BJP MLA who fired indiscriminately inside the police station and tried to kill a Shiv Sena office-bearer is currently in Taloja Jail. Even though two months have passed since the incident, the MLA's son and the remaining 23 accused are still absconding.
BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad from Kalyan (Rural) in Maharashtra fired at the Shiv Sena city chief of Kalyan, Mahesh Gaikwad, inside the room of the senior police Inspector's office. Ganpat Gaikwad is still in jail in Taloja for this case.
Apart from Ganpat Gaikwad, there are 27 other accused in this case, but only 5 of them have been arrested. The remaining 23 accused are still absconding. Ganpat Gaikwad's son Vaibhav Gaikwad is also included in these accused.
Two months have passed since the incident, but the accused is still at large. Due to this, the lives of Mahesh Gaikwad, Rahul Patil, Prashant Bote land owner Neeta Jadhav, and many other eyewitnesses of the residents have been threatened.
Had the police not intervened in time, Mahesh Gaikwad and his associate Rahul Patil would have been killed. This incident happened in the police station itself, yet the police have not imposed section 353 (obstructing government work) yet.
Allegations of premeditated murder conspiracy
Mahesh Gaikwad and Rahul Patil had already alleged in a written complaint that the incident of firing at the police station was pre-planned. But still, the investigation is not being conducted properly and deliberately and that is why the accused is roaming freely, the residents have also alleged while talking to 'Sprouts' on the condition of anonymity.

The accused go scot-free
Harshad Kane, the prime accused in this case, fired 3 shots at Mahesh. Kane was a friend of the prime accused Vaibhav. So the police were bound to arrest Vaibhav immediately. But even after two months, Vaibhav and his other accomplices are still absconding. The police have not even issued a lookout notice against him, raising suspicions that there is political pressure on the police.
The bail application was also rejected
The Prime accused Vaibhav applied for bail in the Kalyan Court, but the court rejected it. He had also come to the court to make this application, but the police have made a ridiculous claim that he is yet to be found.
There is no 'panchanama' of cars either
In this alleged premeditated attack, the accused and his accomplices had brought weapons, and the vehicles in which they fled immediately after the firing were to be seized. But the police did not even do a simple 'panchanama' (documents recording the proceedings of searches and seizures) of these cars.
Political pressure on investigative bodies
The dispute between Ganpat Gaikwad and Mahesh Gaikwad is an old one. Even the police knew the animosity between them, but still no conscious precautions were taken by the police department, not only that, but many questions remain like how many people came to the police station with revolvers, leaving the accused and the victim, the police officers went out of the cabin at the same time.
The important question is how the 26 accused can abscond from the police station after the gruesome incident. All in all, this raises the suspicion of political pressure on the investigative system.
BJP's image tarnished
Ganpat Gaikwad has a criminal background. Deepesh Mhatre of Yuva Sena and other BJP workers also demanded that he should be expelled from the party, taking into account that serious crimes have been registered against him in various police stations, so he is tarnishing the image of BJP at the local level.
