Sometimes…We Have to Wait

In 2016, after losing the Copa America final with the Argentinian national soccer team, Leonel Messi, one of the best soccer players of all time, gave up. Leaving the dressing room, he said to a few reporters, “It is difficult. The time is hard for any analysis. I think the national team was over for me. It is not for me.”? ?

After three final losses from 2014, he thought the opportunities with his country’s national team were over. Of course, no one blamed him for the decision. He was always the best player on the field taking the whole squad on his shoulders, but it seems that wasn’t enough.

The good news is that he changed his mind two years later returning to the Argentinian national soccer team. Then, he won the Copa America 2020 (played on 2021 due to the pandemic), the World Cup in Qatar on 2022 and again the Copa America 2024. He also added two more Ballon d’Or (best soccer player of the year award) to his collection.

Like many of us, he didn’t see all the good things in store for him at that time. We can’t see what is on the other side of the mountain until we take the hard climb to the top.
