Sometimes you just need to use your head when an opportunity presents itself!
Opportunities are not always obvious and don’t always present themselves when you expect. You may not always be prepared, you may not have trained or practiced but when they come and you see them you need to do your utmost to capitalise. In this situation you simply need to use what you have and what you know to do the best you can and grab them with both hands, or perhaps not in this case, even if you know you are slightly outside your comfort zone.
This evening in the chase for the top four in the Premier League, the only important aspect to be decided in the league this season, and with Liverpool needing to win the match to keep their hopes of Champions League Football alive next season. Liverpool Goalkeeper Alisson Becker, the man supposed to stop goals took his opportunity and scored the winning goal.
With the score at one, one and already three minutes into added time, Liverpool won a corner. Alisson runs the length of the pitch to see if he can make the difference in front of the opposition goal. As the corner came across the keeper used the little bit of heading practice he had done as part of his defensive training to jump and powerfully head the ball into the goal.
His team mates, manager, substitutes and even the commentators erupt with joy! He is only the sixth goal keeper ever to score in the premier league and is the first keeper ever to score a winning goal. With the Liverpool season riding on it, he took his opportunity.
You don’t know when an opportunity is going to arise but, like Alisson you need to be clear of any opposition and push yourself forward to capitalise.
