Sometimes You Just Have To Hit The Reset Button
If you had told me even 5 years ago that I would live in a large house with land, tucked away in a completely rural setting surrounded by farmland, I would have laughed at you. And if you said I would be considering having alpacas as pets, I would have been convinced you'd lost your mind. After all, I love to be around people. I love to network. I love being at the heart of the music industry.
Yet here 2 weeks ago my wife and I moved 2 hours south of Nashville. We're in the middle of nowhere with very low connectivity, no trash pickup, only one neighbor within site from our house, surrounded by soybean farms! And the strangest thing about it? I LOVE it! I love being away from the city madness yet within driving distance for meetings and events. I love hearing nothing but coyote at night. I love having deer, armadillo, foxes and more in our yard!
Why am I telling you all of this. Because sometimes we get dead set on having a certain path for our lives, and never look at all of the options.

Many musicians get stuck playing certain kinds of gigs because they never explore all of the options they have. If they tried various venues, they might discover many more possibilities for their careers. Many stay dead set on writing and singing their own songs, without ever considering the doors that open when you are willing to expand and perform/record covers. Some insist on being the lead singer or lead guitarist when doing that becomes the weakest link in their chain. That single-mindedness unfortunately leads to a lot of locked doors.
The biggest lesson I've learned is that there are opportunities everywhere. But we can never even know about them unless we open ourselves up to any and all options, configurations, stretches and random possibilities. Explore it all. Prepare for anything. And let the world know that we are totally, professionally ready for the next level - or for something completely off your radar. If I had refused to look at houses this far from Nashville, which was my immediate thought when the idea was brought up. I would have never found my paradise. Yours is waiting for you as well - just maybe not where you think you'll find it!

2 年Great article Vinny. Where you eventually landed never changed, how you see where you’ve landed has. Great vision leads to greater results. Let’s talk soon. Stay blessed, my friend!

RAZZY BAILEY ENTERPRISES
2 年I have an interest in "SAFETY OF MUSIC". MY ARTIST & husband, RAZZY BAILEY, passed this year and while I have worked in all areas of this Industry. I am left with many questions i have found myself involved with, in regard to our publishing companies, masters, written hits (all genres, vocals, duets, videos, etc). However, I'm not impressed with the pirating and the lack of monetary return. Suggestions available from a presumptious question from you or your group of #followers! https://therazzybailey.com Faye Bright Bailey, Owner/Ceo Razzy Bailey Music Enterprises
