"Sometimes you have to let go of who you were to become who you were meant to be" Carrie Bradshaw
**
Since the June long weekend, I have gotten into a rather destructive habit of re-watching Sex & The City episodes. I started watching again when Big left Carrie & moved to France, and then came back after a few months engaged & married to Natasha.
It's a heartbreaking thing when the person you love, falls in love with someone else.
What ensues is absolute chaos, Carrie is certainly a dramatic person surrounded by a bunch of crazy attention seeking yet beautiful stunning friends.
There was a line that she shared that made me pay attention:
"Sometimes you have to let go of who you were to become who you were meant to be".
And I sat there thinking about this one line.
I believe, that in almost all cases, great and major change comes, when you let go of the "constraint" of who you think you are and open up a space to create or "become" who you were meant to be.
For example, in the context of my work, I used to think of myself as an IT Consultant/Accountant having to spend all my weeks & years in the Corporate World.
This was not who I was. I was meant to be in Online Marketing helping people build massive online businesses. And as soon as I started to believe that, I become that.
For example, in the context of my body, I used to think of myself as fat & overweight (which I still do refer to myself like this on auto-program).
That is not who I am. As long as I believe myself to be overweight, then I will be overweight. As soon as I start believing myself to be fit, slim & healthy then I will naturally become that.
For example, in the context of relationship, I used to think of myself as a nobody without a partner.
This is not the truth. As long as my relationship with myself is predicated on being someone as a result of someone else, then I have already lost the game. I have traded out on myself at the highest level. I want you to know, that you are enough, with or without another person in your life, you are capable of great things. As soon as I started to believe this, like really believe this, everything started to move & shift.
This post is for someone in my life. Someone who I think really really needs to read & pay attention to this. So that they can move their lives forward powerfully, with volition, and step into their own truth. No matter what conditions or circumstances are presenting themselves right now.
And I don't expect ANY of you to have to sit through hours of Sex & the City and watch Carrie drive herself crazy to learn this valuable lesson.
"Let go of who you think you are, to become the person you were always meant to be"
