Sometimes you don't have to add or subtract anything –?just stay consistent

As you sip your Saturday morning cup of coffee, your mind races a mile a minute.

You've knocked out a little piece of a big project this morning, and sent over a couple of things for a client to review – you don't expect anything back in the weekend, but needed to get it out so at least they can review at their pace.

Perhaps you think about your marketing systems as I often do on Saturday. I'm always checking our site's Google search console, Analytics, and Ahrefs almost as if by auto-pilot.

Do you have things you do related to work that you do compulsively, but as often as you do them they aren't adding value? Almost like someone watching a TV show they've already seen – checks their Instagram feed?

I am going to be going into the office today to record a podcast and a couple of videos, but I think to myself "are we getting the right leads", are the systems to fulfill those in place and improving all the time?

Decision Tree – "Do I need to change anything?"

> Add anything? – Are the systems you've already put into place moving in the right direction. For instance – if three months ago you got 1 sales qualified lead, 2 months ago you got two, and last month you got 3 – you're headed in the right direction, so increase effort into your charted course.

–> Subtract anything? – If you think all of your efforts are headed towards the right activities, you don't want to subtract haphazardly, only if something is not leading in the direction of that over-arching vision. "If we continue heading in this direction, we'll be the leader in our niche – not quickly, but steadily."

You made a plan – you believe in the plan – for the next couple months it's just being consistent with heavy-duty effort in that direction

Perhaps you love changing course... it's the fun part – the 'new years resolution', the 'new initiative.'

But at this exact moment you may realize:

A. You need to allow others to improve and take more responsibility. (Restraint is required.)

B. You need to stop the desire to 'pivot' right now. (Restraint is required.)

C. You need to focus on the activities you've set into place for the next couple months. MASSIVE ACTION is required, in the direction you've already plotted.

The unnecessary A-D-D of constant pivots

When you set quarterly goals you should be doing the hard thinking.

When you're 3 weeks into the quarter, you should be implementing – not recalculating.

So if you haven't set a quarterly goal yet, maybe it's time to start – but otherwise, use your compulsive energy to change, and funnel it into a review of your goals and perhaps use an RPM planning session to plot next steps.

? First, you write the RESULT you want from today or this next week.

? Then you write out the PURPOSE of achieving that result. This is really important to review when you're unconsciously looking to pivot too early.

? Then create your MAP - or - MASSIVE ACTION PLAN, in the direction of that result – list everything from your very next step in the next 5 minutes (one small step you can take now) up to the biggest 3 steps you could take today, and on down the list.

You can cross things off this MAP, just get it all out – Ideally on paper.

Once I get that done – it's typically time to take action - ASAP.

Hope this is helpful, have an awesome day!
