Sometimes, the Parenthood Journey Requires ‘Patience’ (Story of Tanu & Nitin)

Tanu and Nitin finally got married in August 2019 after living in a long-term relationship. The journey to a complete & happy family started right after. It was always their biggest dream to have children. But, sometimes the journey to parenthood is a long journey that requires courage, determination, and patience.

The same happened to the couple when infertility hit them. Little did they know, they would have to wait a little longer to have that special moment.

After a year of trying to conceive naturally, the confusion, exhaustion, and fear came along as the time passed. Talking about the infertility journey, Nitin insisted that any person who is struggling with the same unwanted circumstances should never give up on a dream of their parenthood. One day you'll appreciate this wait.

Here's how Nitin and Tanu got a win over their infertility -

“I felt pretty confident that something was wrong after only a few months of trying without success. The first thing that crossed my mind was our dream of parenthood. However, we tried for a whole year and only then consulted with an OB/GYN for the first time, and he started us on our first round of Clomid, the most common fertility drugs to stimulate ovulation."

Everything seemed well at first, but Tanu had a miscarriage just a week after the conceiving. It felt really hard and strange telling our loved ones about the miscarriage before we even had a chance to share the news of our pregnancy.

The thing that took me too long to realize was that when everything went wrong, the people who stand by you–are your family.?

Our OB/GYN wanted to continue to do what we had been doing till now, but now we had enough of it. We decided that we needed to seek out a fertility expert, and a new OB/GYN. This is when our family came to our rescue as one of Tanu's cousins knew about Dr. Rutuja Athawale from Crysta IVF.

We booked our consultation appointment with Dr. Rutuja, and after meeting with her, we knew it was the next best step for us. After a series of tests, Tanu was diagnosed with PCOS. We were told we were no longer considered ideal candidates for basic infertility treatment, such as timed intercourse paired with Clomid. So, IVF was our next step, it offered a new wave of hope.

Unfortunately, the first cycle wasn’t successful either. And then, Dr.Rutuja decided to create a protocol that was specifically unique to us based on our history. We were instructed to do an IVF transfer with one of our embryos, but rather than doing the injections, she wanted to monitor Tanu’s body naturally.

Every week we went to our check-ups and everything progressed as it should. And at last, that special moment knocked on our door, it was our little baby boy Ekansh. Our journey to parenthood might be a little long, but I've learned to trust the process. I’ve also learned to be patient and good things will happen within due time.
