Sometimes the old adage “size matters” matters
If you have a substantial sign program with a regional or national footprint covering multiple states and cities, often it’s best to go with a larger, more diversified company that is experienced in handling this scope of work.
You’ll want to look for a company that is stocked with the proper amount of experienced professionals who can handle your tasks, as opposed to those who won’t be comfortable on a larger playing field.
When searching around for new vendors, make sure they are up to the challenge! If the company would have to max out staff and equipment for their first substantial customer, it might mean you’ll pay the price for their learning curve. Smaller outfits that are desperate for the account that will put them on the map might promise just about anything to get to the next level. Big promises can wind up being big disappointments.
Vet your potential suppliers well. Reputation, experience, resources, production facility capabilities, in-house equipment, overall geographic footprint and personnel profiles are all components you’ll want to size up before committing.
Don’t be afraid to ask direct questions when looking for a company to add to your preferred vendor list. As you are growing your business, you’ll need others to help you reach new heights. Just be sure they have expanded far enough themselves so you can comfortably get there together.
