Sometimes The Numbers Just Speak For Themselves

Did you know that according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2013 there were:

4,585 fatal work injuries.

Of the 4,585 fatalities:

  • 828 or 18% occurred in construction
  • 733 or 16% occurred in Transportation an Warehousing
  • 312 or 7% occurred in Manufacturing

There were 3.3 fatalities for every 100,000 full-time equivalent workers.

  • Construction was 9.7 for every 100,000 full-time equivalent workers
  • Transportation and Warehousing was 14.0 for every 100,000 full-time equivalent workers
  • Manufacturing was 2.1 for every 100,000 full-time equivalent workers

More than 12 employees died every day.

There were 595 fatal falls to a lower level and 65 or 11% occurred from a fall of 6' or less.

Sometimes the numbers just speak for themselves!
