Sometimes Even Sales Super Heroes Cannot Save Stupidity
The Stupidity sometimes found in operational areas of automotive sales has a very negative effect on the internal dealership ecosystem, effectively draining the cash driven economy of car sales operations. The fact is that car sales companies can employ the very best people in the world to come and work for them, however if the operational executive are making bad business calls or plumb dumb decisions they will be of little or almost no benefit at all. In a sales driven environment that goes rogue it becomes unconducive for just about anybody to construct any winning ways, so be wary of what may be coming your way. The success needed to create a bull market by riding the recession is not possible within the operational chaos of a crashing car sales operation.
Create Cash Cows in Car Dealerships Rejecting the Recession.
I ran a dealership a while back and it was one of the most challenging and operationally difficult dealerships to manage although it was a very small urban rural business model with unique challenges, please allow me to share why. In small towns one faces a completely different set of conditions and challenges than those you would encounter in a major metropolitan area. The strategy cannot and will not be the same as larger areas as a myriad of mitigating motoring factors need to be calculated into the spectrum and strategy of operational understanding. The art of listening, learning and observing the obstacles to overcome by understanding the different demographic challenges is vital. You either grasp it quickly or you loose your grip getting thrown or bucked from the sales saddle in seconds. A clip from the movie, The Longest Ride shares a few strong images that brings this to life for me below.
I sometimes feel the plot, morals, ethics and importance of our own stories in sales and business arenas get lost and irrevocably hurt or damaged. Fear is a powerful force that can punish people and pinch profits if you allow it control.
Why? People are often rewarded for wrong doings in business and reprimanded and respited for doing the right things is a reprehensible double standard. The message and sincerity in this story below is something that inspired me and it is certainly a movie that will move you.
The themes of passion, love and a belief in what is right is beautifully told in The Longest Ride, so saddle up and ride into the sunset of success spurred on by an inspirational ending.
The story of the financial model relating to this little dealership and the demographics involved were beyond difficult, more importantly opportunities to create sales and profits were virtually non-existent. The fact that despite these seemingly insurmountable odds I had to Think Tank and Strategize a Way to ensure it made a sales profit was the challenge. The level of skill, application and understanding of the specific business model utilised a vast amount of my automotive knowledge and I called on all of it.I utilised every single sales skill, marketing strategy, motoring methodology combined with state of the art tactics and hard work to take this dealership from absolute dud to total stud status. A very rough ride in exceptionally tough conditions would be an understatement, however the dealership grew from strength to strength and was turned around in under six months with the support of a very good team.
Sometimes in sales when something is broken so badly and stupidity rules the day, the damage control reaches supersonic levels spinning out of control very quickly. The result is that a badly damaged dealership cannot always be turned around as fast and effectively as required even with the help of superhuman efforts from sales superheroes.
The other factor to consider is an overburdened business needs superb leadership in order for a turnaround to transpire. Leadership is not just about skills , but it is also very importantly about belief and behaviours in my humble opinion.
The Great Joe Girard.
The Average or fair weather team are ashamedly only as good as the conditions allow them to be.
The exceptional team is a winning one that can produce profits and make miracles happen in recessionary times going up against all the odds and winning.
Vehicle Sales Ace Mr Verde
In some insane circumstances in car dealerships you could hire Joe Verde, Zig Ziglar and Joe Girard and still pull a blank sales result because operations are totally clueless as to what Mr Good Looks like. Mr Stupidity simply refuses to listen or learn from far more experienced industry experts.
Operational Incompetents would literally and misguidedly swop or discard their best sales and super heroes cards much like a greedy child trying to complete their comic book sticker card collection. The motivational men or motoring masters are mentors to listen and learn from and should never be carelessly traded or cast aside by stupidity or greed. Stupidity can never create a cash rendering environment for car sales and prefers to inadvertently develop sales droughts, normally without a single rainmaker in sight.
Sales Hero and Master of Motivation Mr Zig Ziglar
Stupidity does not fear, hear or listen to what others have to say nor does it even try to apply what it has heard by listening to understand, preferring to soldier on mistakenly believing in a know- it-all sales philosophy. The realisation of poor sales statistics and results always proves that stupidity is totally useless in the end.
As far as Super Heroes saving Stupidity the following would more than likely see them wishing they had not even suited up. Stupidity often turns good people bad as they pursue a subconscious self driven course of destruction often unwittingly believing their flawed and failed actions are right. The consequences are normally dire and totally detrimental for car dealerships.
Superman- Strength, X Ray Vision and the power of flight. These brilliant abilities would not be enough to save stupidity, even the ability to share insight with x ray vision would be ignored as Superman crashes to the ground cloaked in his cape of failure.
The Flash-Supersonic Speed. The Flash is fast but even with his speed and agility he could not save stupidity from the impending freight train wreck as another track would be found to fall onto perpetuating the same mistake.
Spiderman- The Webmaster. The brilliant brain and scientific approach of Peter Parker combined with masterful web construction is disregarded and sprayed with a can of Doom insect rejecting repellent by Stupidity.
Batman- The Dark Knight. The state of the art technology, skill, knowledge and expertise of the bat are battered to pieces by a stupid belief that outdated technology can win against modern disruptive times. The result of taking no risks, evasive or adaptive actions sees Robin Over Run as car crimes spiral out of control as the clock ticks down and valuable time runs out.
Aquaman- He can breathe underwater sustaining incredible depths with an impenetrable skin. The depth of loss, ruthless sales sharks and plunge in profits would be a mammoth task even for this titan of the blue ocean of opportunity to overcome. Sometimes in sales a totally insular and rhino thick skin is required in order to survive the infection of losses.
The sales truth and lesson to be learnt is do not ever take a winning team for granted. A vile villain can never take credit for the super achievements or the profit producing powers of sales leaders as they lack the integrity and authenticity of a true hero.
The other factor is sometimes and very sadly so, all the sales heroes in the world seconded with the secret services and skills of James Bond 007 will not be able to save operationally deployed dimwits from their own stubborn stupidity or self induced sales suicide.
