Something Worth Binging on Netflix

Something Worth Binging on Netflix

Over the weekend I watched Nobody Wants This. The romance comedy was about a Jewish temple Leader dating a non-Jewish woman.?

I spent my entire Saturday binge-watching this series while laughing and crying.?

?Here is what I learned:

  • Authenticity is a human magnet. Be who you are. Bring your whole self to the environments you are a part of.
  • When you do this, be prepared to be ostracized. Made to feel inadequate, and singled out. Yet be firm in who you are and fluid with who you are becoming.?
  • When meeting others, embrace the root of the connection and not the source of division. Love should always be at the root.?

If you’ve watched the series, let me know your takeaway.

Humans are a walking paradox. They love consistency because it provides security. But they also enjoy adventure and crave change. For me, when a person is authentic it provides a sense of security. Meaning, how they talk to me, I can trust that they speak to others in that same kind and gentle manner. So when I make a recommendation, I don't fear some alter ego emerging. Also, being truly authentic is knowing as you alluded to, "there will be some change and I have to be just as fluid". I must realize that they are growing and I have to be willing to make adjustments as well. Which leads me to my point, that when you are authentic, you will move in and out of social circles. Sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. But we can't fear that change. We must embrace it, because regardless of the path you choose, you will grow if you keep moving. And that, for me, is what draws me to authentic people and why I strive to be one everyday.
