Something Wonderful Is Happening In The HVAC Community

Walking into the AHR Expo in Orlando, I could sense something different this year. The energy. The conversations. The feeling of connection. It wasn’t just another industry event—it felt like the HVAC community was coming together in a way I’ve never seen before.
For most of my career, the industry has felt siloed—engineers, sales engineers, installers, contractors, service techs, vendors—each group operating in their own space, only interacting when necessary. But this year, something has changed.
The only explanation I can come up with? Social media.
How Social Media is Breaking Down Silos in HVAC
Historically, B2B industries (especially HVAC) have been slow to embrace social media. While other sectors built online communities, we stayed in our lanes, relying on trade shows, word-of-mouth, and face-to-face interactions. But now, that’s changing—fast.
At AHR 2024, I saw firsthand how social media is revolutionizing our industry:
? Service techs, engineers, contractors, and manufacturers engaging with each other before, during, and after the event.
? Live streams, booth interviews, and behind-the-scenes content at an all-time high.
? Platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube buzzing with real-time updates, networking, and industry conversations.
This isn’t just about marketing anymore—it’s about building a true, engaged, and connected community.
Why Building the HVAC Community Matters
So why does this shift matter? Why should we care about building a stronger HVAC community? For one, attracting new talent depends on it. Young professionals entering the workforce today expect to find vibrant, engaging online communities in their chosen industries. If HVAC doesn’t show up where they are (LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube), we risk losing the next generation of skilled professionals.
More importantly, what we do matters.
HVAC professionals are responsible for keeping people comfortable, safe, and healthy. We design, install, and maintain the systems that power hospitals, schools, data centers, and almost every building people step into. This industry doesn’t just provide jobs—it keeps society running.

The Power of Social Media at the HVAC Tactical Awards
Held on the eve of the AHR Expo, the HVAC Tactical ?? Awards—often called the 'HVAC Prom'—was a firsthand look at the power of online connections. Many of us had only interacted through comments and messages, yet when we met in person, it felt like reconnecting with old friends. Social media had already built the relationships—this event simply brought them to life.
What started as a swag brand and online community by Ben Poole has grown into a movement. The HVAC Tactical ?? Awards, once a small gathering, has exploded into one of the industry’s most anticipated events, drawing over 400 attendees this year. More than just a celebration, it showcased how social media is transforming HVAC, bringing professionals together like never before.
The night wasn’t just about awards; it was proof that HVAC is no longer just a trade—it’s a thriving digital community. The winners weren’t just skilled professionals but mentors, educators, and industry voices using social platforms to strengthen HVAC. From live-streamed moments to engaging interviews, the event reinforced a powerful truth: social media isn’t just changing how we connect—it’s shaping the future of HVAC
A New Era for HVAC
We are stepping into a new era of HVAC, one in which community, collaboration, and connection matters more than ever.
For years, we operated in silos. Now, we're breaking those barriers down. We're talking, sharing, and building something bigger than just an industry—we’re creating a true community.
And I, for one, am excited to be part of it.
Let's keep this momentum going. If you're in HVAC, I challenge you to:
? Post on LinkedIn and join the conversation.
? Follow and engage with fellow HVAC professionals.
? Share knowledge, ask questions, and contribute to the growing community.
This is just the beginning. Something wonderful is happening in HVAC—and you don't want to miss it.
