Something Which Worked for Me:

In today’s fast and VUCA life, we do get busy with day to day activities, some firefighting. Even some tasks get over spilled to weekends or some critical appointments social or otherwise.?In such scenario we do get so busy, with the burden of responsibilities, thinking for future jobs etc.; and hence we very little or no time with to think about our self. Our vision mission get truck with promotion, Designation and aura of that. In the bargain, we lose the opportunity to present our self-better. We all know the story of woodcutter who was advised to keep his axe sharp at all time.

2. One of the solution I device was to write diary, as always believed in written documents (print, e-form included). One part of my diary was “To Do” lists, some salient observations and noting down key numbers or indexes. I used to have one section as ERIC (Easy reference when consulted). this used to be separate dairy (without dates) or file with some separator sections. This used to have sanctions, project formulation documents, some guiding principles even had details of a/c, staff list with my own marking for their aspirations and performance, etc. Later I started maintaining it on desktop.

3. I used to have one section on every date (bottom portion reserved for that). ?I used to jot down my feelings for the day on following questions:

a. In today’s day, do I owe my gratitude to any one including the God? 
b. Should I be thankful or grateful for any event or activity of the day? 
c. ?My performance, in any of the activity executed today; should have been still better? How? ( How I could be better? Or continuous improvement 
d. What is my plan for events on horizon? What should be my prayer for that?

???????????????I had evolved a working habit that I used to like a small feedback from my team members before they pack up for the day. Though few shied away from this system. It was always very interesting what they shared. Also, I did ask them any of above questions when relevant. This helped me aligning the team toward the goals.

Next, is the learning from my ex-Boss. While on chair, he emphasized that we all as tea Members should join in for Tea at 1030 and 1500 hrs. He never took the answer that buy with work, a he said work may wait but not Tea (coordination). This team get together become lovely point of discussions, future line of action for incoming events, coordination between departments. Boss had always encouraged to share even personal problems / issues at home. He was too keen to know how and where shoe is biting for each one of us.

It may not be out of the place to talk about telephone coordination production control telephone meetings. This I am narrating from what I observed during my childhood days, a grown up in Iron ore mines. My father, who was Electrical Engineer responsible for maintenance of Plant & equipment; was to attend fixed time telephone (or should I call it manual intercom) meetings at 0800 hrs. He used to be ready with his points, expectation, support and thanks giving. Even at that age (say 1965 onwards) HoDs had freedom to attend from office or house. I admired those sessions, when everyone used to listen more and speak less. No wonder, they exceeded production targets

These are some methods which I appreciated, adapted and it worked for me. It is not that only this way things would work but many more way. Would be glad to listen those methods and systems ?
