Something to Read on Your Holiday...

... or maybe not ??

Although many of us are getting ready to go on holiday, the world of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (D365F&O) does not stand still. Or more precisely, the world of the Copilot is very active when it comes to D365F&O.

Extending the Copilot Experience

As we are all getting used to the Copilot sidebar in D365F&O, we want to take it to the next level by extending it with our own code driven by user prompts. In September this is becoming reality according to this article. This article describes the future ability to leverage AI plugins in the business logic. With these capabilities, Copilot will become significantly easier for partners to extend and include as part of their solution designs.

Copilot Search

As this article is being written, the ability to search for functions and records using Copilot is going into public preview. Especially the ability to find data based on natural language queries is an exciting new feature that will enhance the user experience. Read more about it here.

Asynchronous Dual-write Integration

This new capability addresses a key challenge with dual-write: the real-time integration pattern holding up updates in the client interface. With this new approach, updates can be made asynchronously and with bulk operations. This should hopefully improve performance and improve the user experience.

Improved Virtual Entity Infrastructure

For those of us working with D365F&O on Dataverse there is good news: Microsoft is improving the virtual entity infrastructure and exposing more entities as described here.

Improved Financial Tags

With GA in July, Microsoft has improved the financial tags functionality by adding it to accounting distributions and also by adding it to more journals. Big steps on the way to feature completeness.

Copilot Workflow Summary

And this is probably my current favourite Copilot feature: the ability to summarise the workflow history as described here.

1,500 Tasks in Project Operations

This may not be a problem for you, but Microsoft is now increasing the number of tasks you can have on a project to 1,500 in Project Operations according to this article. Fingers crossed, the the limit will be removed entirely at some point...

Supply Chain Management

It seems the team have been busy implementing summaries into all the source document forms, so nothing much to report here.

And that is it! I will be heading off on my holidays soon and not think about D365F&O for a few weeks. I am looking forward to seeing all the new Copilot stuff come to life when I am back. I might even get excited and create a short video or a feature or two ??

Thanks for subscribing and reading my newsletter.

Have a nice summer and enjoy your holidays.
