Something new for 2024!

We kicked off our pilot Youngers Programme on 6th April.

Naturally, the group was a little nervous about meeting one another for the first time. However, through a series of games and Intermission-style icebreakers, they quickly warmed up, forging connections that are bound to blossom in the weeks to come. Each participant received an Intermission gift bag?containing an Intermission Youth?water bottle and?a daily journal?designed to support them on their journey of self-exploration.

Guiding the program are three of our accomplished graduates: Sara, Rebecca?and Chris. The programme will culminate in a short performance of "Romeo and Juliet" by the group on 29th?June 2024 -?please save the date! It was great to be able to take the Youngers on a?trip to the Globe Theatre to see "Romeo and Juliet"?after their first session.

10 MONTH PROGRAMME TASTER SESSION

Intermission Youth graduates and facilitators Tré and Stephanie with participants at the taster session

It was?fantastic to have young people from across London come along to experience what it's like to be in the Intermission Youth 10-month theatre programme.

Lucie, our Assistant Facilitator who led the session, shares her thoughts on the day.

This year’s taster session was really fun and refreshing to do. We had a lot of young people who had heard about Intermission from various sources, but the two things they all had in common were that they all wanted to act and had no idea what Intermission was all about.

So, seeing their faces change when we mentioned Shakespeare was actually a Kodak moment. But as the workshop developed, seeing how they all warmed up and took to our interpretation of Shakespeare was amazing to see. The room had great energy, great creativity and all round good vibes. I think the session taking place on one of the hottest days so far of 2024 probably helped a bit too, the sun tends to do that.

One of the attendees said "I felt very comfortable and it was a good insight to the programme!".

Check out a little of what we got up to here!

Christvie’s interview with a Vampire

Intermission Youth Theatre graduate Yung

Graduate, YUNG NGUYEN, tells fellow graduate, Christvie Mvioki about his time on the set of Interview With The Vampire

How has your background and experience in theatre helped or influenced your work in television??My background in theatre helped me with independent preparation for screen because when you’re on set they don’t rehearse to help you find your character or journey of the scene and that’s something you need to come prepared for. There’s 100+ people working in different departments from lights to costume PAs helping to set the scene & shot, you can’t have them waiting for you to rehearse until you get your character, you have to come prepared with that. That’s the difference between a professional actor or someone who’s not. Know your lines, know your character, come on time & bring good energy because you gotta make 10hrs+ shoots enjoyable.?
